Step Into the World of Studio Ghibli: Singapore’s Immersive Exhibition Opens This December!

Studio Ghibli fans in Singapore, get ready to step beyond the screen and into the magical worlds of your favourite films. The Story of Studio Ghibli is coming to Gardens by the Bay, bringing a massive 3,500-square-metre immersive exhibition featuring 12 captivating scenes inspired by some of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved movies.

From standing before the towering eight-metre bathhouse from Spirited Away to waiting in the rain with Totoro at the iconic bus stop and stepping inside the Guchokipanya bakery from Kiki’s Delivery Service, the exhibition recreates familiar scenes with detailed sets, characters and interactive elements designed to make you feel as though you’ve walked straight into a Studio Ghibli film.

The exhibition officially opens on 18 December 2026, although that date is reserved for the VIP Opening Ceremony. Public admission begins on 19 December 2026 at Gardens by the Bay.

What to Expect at The Story of Studio Ghibli Singapore

Spread across an impressive 3,500 square metres, the exhibition takes visitors through 12 immersive scenes, combining elaborate recreations, animatronics and familiar characters from Studio Ghibli films.

One of the biggest highlights is undoubtedly the world of Spirited Away. Visitors can stand before an enormous eight-metre-tall recreation of the iconic bathhouse before heading into its bustling boiler room. Inside, Kamaji comes to life as his many arms work among countless drawers, with intricate animatronics adding movement throughout the space.

Fans of My Neighbour Totoro can step into one of the film’s most memorable moments. Stand beneath the rain at the famous bus stop alongside Totoro, with the magical Cat Bus seemingly just moments away.

You’ll also be able to enter the world of Kiki’s Delivery Service by pushing open the wooden door of Guchokipanya bakery, recreating the charming setting where Kiki begins a new chapter of her life.

And these are only some of the scenes visitors can expect. With 12 different experiences waiting inside, there will be plenty more to discover throughout the exhibition.
